Today, four cities in Uzbekistan \u2013 Samarkand, Tashkent, Bukhara, and Khiva \u2013 are benefitting from renewed interest in this historic route. Explorers may once have had to contend with long, arduous journeys on camel-back, but new Afrosiyob high-speed trains have become a lifeline linking Tashkent, the country\u2019s capital, to Samarkand and Bukhara. It is one of two doubly landlocked countries in the world, the other being Liechtenstein. In addition, due to its location within a series of endorheic basins, none of its rivers lead to the sea. Less than 10% of its territory is intensively cultivated irrigated land in river valleys and oases, and formerly in the Aral Sea, which has largely desiccated in one of the world's worst environmental disasters. The rest is the vast Kyzylkum Desert and mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thienxuantravel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Silk-and-Spice-Festival-in-Bukhara.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Silk and Spice Festival in Bukhara<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Republic of Uzbekistan includes 12 regions and the autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan.Each corner of Uzbekistan attracts with its features. In Tashkent, you can take a walk in the most beautiful metro in the world or see the most ancient manuscript \u2013 the Koran of Usman. In the historical cities included in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List \u2013 Samarkand, Bukhara, Shakhrisabz and Khiva, you can visit the most ancient architectural monuments that have preserved echoes of past eras.
