The ruins of Machu Picchu are the most internationally recognized of all the ruins of Peru and therefore receive the most tourists. The other popular ruins are those of Chan Chan, Sip\u00e1n, Kuelap, Nazca Lines, Ollantaytambo, Caral, Sacsayhuam\u00e1n, and Sillustani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peru is one of the world\u2019s most varied countries. It is a multicultural nation, filled with traditions, a unique gastronomy and vast natural reserves. It is home to 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Peru is situated in the western part of South America and shares borders with Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile. Its enormous territory, covering more than 1.2 million square kilometers, is composed of three regions: Coast, Highlands and Jungle. Its current population exceeds 31.5 million inhabitants. Spanish is the official language of Peru; however, 47 indigenous languages are also spoken in the country, including Quechua and Aymara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout Peru you can find marvelous vestiges of the past that astonish the world\u2019s travelers. Machu Picchu is a must-see destination, but Peru is also home to Kuelap and Chavin de Huantar, Caral and Chan Chan, the Nasca Lines and Sipan\u2026 and we could name even more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
