Vietnam Airlines to open direct flight to world’s largest airport Beijing Daxing
VGP | National carrier Viet Nam Airlines will officially open a direct route from Ho Chi Minh City Beijing Daxing International Airport, the largest airport in the world, from 30 March 2025. The new route will operate five weekly flights every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, using Airbus A321 aircraft.
In addition to the new flight route, Viet Nam Airlines has also increased the frequency on the Ha Noi-Beijing route to seven flights per week. The opening of new flights to Beijing not only create opportunities for tourism and trade but also facilitate the development of bilateral ties between the two nations.
With this new route, Viet Nam Airlines will operate a total of six routes connecting Viet Nam and China, including Ha Noi–Beijing, Ho Chi Minh City–Beijing Daxing, Ha Noi–Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City–Shanghai, Ha Noi–Guangzhou, and Ho Chi Minh City–Guangzhou.
The total number of flights between the two countries has also reached 40 flights per week, meeting the travel demand of passengers from both nations. In 2024, China was Viet Nam's second largest tourist source market with nearly 3.74 million arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 114.4 per cent.
Viet Nam welcomed 574,950 tourists from China in January this year, making up 27.8% of total international arrivals. The number of mainland Chinese tourists has more than doubled compared to January 2024, narrowing the gap with its pre-pandemic high from 36% in 2024 to only 10% in January 2025.
To celebrate the launch, Vietnam Airlines is offering a special round-trip fare from Ho Chi Minh City to PKX, starting at just 7,499,000 VND (299.96 USD), inclusive of taxes and fees. This limited-time offer is available for bookings made until October 24, with flights departing between March 30 and October 24.
Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX), also known as Beijing New Airport, is the airport featuring the second largest single-building terminal in the world. It opened its doors on September 26, 2019, and is a multi-awarded airport. It is also the second international airport in Beijing. Indeed, Beijing Daxing Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport are the two international aviation hubs of the Chinese capital, as the adjacent Beijing Nanyuan Airport closed once the new airport began its operation.
